“There is a you, but you are made of non-you elements.”
-Thich Nhat Hanh, Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet (HarperCollins, 2021).
In this video and installation, Lorelei d’Andriole combines her research into spectral analysis and analog video synthesis
with her two years of Buddhist practice.
Through her studies, d’Andriole has found parallels in “language between complex waveforms analysis and
the Buddhist concept of interbeing.” In her piece, d’Andriole uses the metaphor of the wave and ocean from
Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh to explore the concept of healing as a practice, and how meditation can lead us
to find clarity and compassion.
This work has been shown at the South Bend Museum of Art as part of the Performing Media Festival (2025) and (SCENE) MetroSpace as part of the “Vitalize” group exhibition in East Lansing, Michigan.
